At the young age of five, Johannes Ehning could be seen galloping over the pastures with the miniature pony “Little Queen”.
He competed in the Lead Line competition, wearing his older brother’s riding outfit, in the stable colours yellow and green.
At the age of 8, Johannes competed in his first beginner’s and easy classes (E- and A-classes) with “La Bamba” and “Gina Ginelli”.
With “Elke,” he competed relatively quickly in his first low and medium level classes (L- and M-classes).
With “Zuckerpuppe,” Johannes rode his first high level (S-classes) and triumphed in his first Westphalia Championships in 1996 in Steinhagen.
Three years later he rode with “Gelha’s Panama” to win the individual European Championships and the teams’ silver in Münchwilen (Switzerland). With the mare by Pilot and “Gelha’s Junior”, he succeeded in competitions such as “Preis der Besten 2000,” won the Grand Prix in Hagen, earned the individual bronze and team silver medals, won the Grand Prix at the Euro 2000 in Hortobagy (Hungary), achieved placements at “CHIO Aachen 2000″, won “Letzte Chance” in Dortmund 2001 (Westfalenhalle), won the Grand Prix in Rhede and finally took home the title “Team European Champion” of the Young Riders in Le Toquet (France) 2003.
“Locando” (winner of “Golden Saddle” 2000) and “Lord’s Classics” – aka “Nolte’s Küchengirl” (winner of the Grand Prix in Hamburg and Warstein) proved to be his most successful horses.
With “Carmen” (second place “Goldzack – Cup” 2001, Grand Prix winner in Kiel 2002) he collected victories and placings in big classes.
Johannes celebrated his biggest wins to date with Salvador (winner of the Grand Prix from Wien 2012, 5th place in the Grand Prix from Frankfurt 2014).
Cayenne (1st place international competition 1,45 m at the Munich Indoors 2013), Appearance (Winner of the Grand Prix from Rastede in 2012), Casper (Win Final Youngster 1,40m in Kuringen, Belgium) and Air Corrado (2nd place final of the middle tour in Offenburg 2015) naming only some of the reliable partners available to him.
For Johannes one of the most important jobs, and his passion since years, has been and still is the training and competing of young horses. He is regularly winning and placed in classes especially for these young horses (ie german champion 5yr old 2009 with Quaid).
Football is Johannes word for free time. He plays himself in TG Almsick, when his free time allows. He lives at his home and stable in Stadtlohn.
